Track KH Foster Kittens @ Kitty Cornered

Be sure to check out Kitty Cornered on Facebook, where Wendy Hughes-Jelen is documenting the fostering of Mia and her kittens. Mia gave birth just a week ago to four beauitful kitten babies and also took in an orphan. The whole process is being documented with photos, updates, and even a live kitten-cam! After the fostering process, the mama and kittens will be available for adoption when the time is right. A huge thanks to Wendy Hughes-Jelen for doing this. Here are a few photos of the mama and her adorable babies:

The kittens are so tiny.

The eyes have not even opened yet!

Kitty Harbor Donation Drive

Special thanks to all the volunteers and those who donated this past weekend for the Kitty Harbor Donation Drive! We set up shop on Harbor Ave as passing motorists dropped donations into the litter pans and cat carriers. Hopefully our cat masks didn’t scare too many children! When all was said and done, we’d collected over $1100 from the generous community. The cats at Kitty Harbor thank you! Here are a few photos.

Delyn waves to passing tourists.

Over $1100 was collected for Kitty Harbor!

Kitty Harbor Article @ KOMO News

Posted July 21st, 2010 by Jess | 0 Comments »

Rose Egge of KOMOnews.com recently profiled Kitty Harbor and founder Delyn Kosbab. There’s even some embedded video footage of some adorable kittens playing and waiting to find a new home. Here’s a clipping from the article:

When I showed up at the shelter, without warning, I found it clean and filled with all the essentials a new pet owner would need. Most exciting of all, I saw healthy, neutered cats and kittens roaming and playing freely in a large, open air area.

Kitty Harbor is run by Delyn Kosbab, a woman who’s been rescuing cats since she was 4 years old. It started when her parents let her use their home garage in Sedro-Woolley as a pet nursery for abandoned cats and kittens. When she got older, Delyn trapped, neutered, and released cats back into the wild to help with over-population. Later, in 1994 and 2000, she started foster programs at King County and Kent Animal Shelters, preventing countless cats from being euthanized. Soon after, she converted her home into an animal shelter and, in 2007, bought the building at 3422 Harbor Ave. S.W. to start Kitty Harbor.[...]

Kitty Harbor takes in an average of 30 cats or kittens a week from rescue agencies that find them on the street, in foreclosed homes, in dumpsters and various conditions. On the first day we spoke, Delyn received seven phone calls asking if she had room for more cats. The next day, a truck pulled up with nearly 20 kittens.
